Cariwest is one of Edmonton’s most colourful and vibrant festivals! Introduced more than 30 years ago in Edmonton, by the Western Carnival Development Association (WCDA), Cariwest provides a platform to share popular Caribbean music, cuisine and carnival culture with Western Canada. This year we are excited to be celebrating our 35th Anniversary!

The 2019 Cariwest Festival will take place August 9 – 11 in downtown Edmonton at Capital Plaza on the Alberta Legislature Grounds. The main festival elements are a Friday Night Costume Extravaganza, a Saturday Carnival Parade and a Caribbean Village – open all weekend, including live entertainment, a Caribbean Marketplace and food vendors on “Herc Street Caribbean
Eats”.

Volunteers are a very important part of our festival and we need people like you! We are currently looking for volunteers to fill the following roles: parade marshals, Rum Garden attendants, Volunteer/Information tent attendants and the Caribbean Village grounds assistants for setup, tear down and weekend operations. No pre-existing knowledge or experience is required, just an interest in giving back to your community and excitement to be involved in our festival!

There will be an automated sign up site available at the end of May 2019, and if you are interested in volunteering prior to the link being sent out, please email us with your name and a phone number at volunteers.cariwest@gmail.com and we will ensure to follow up once the automated site is live.

Thank you in advance for your interest in volunteering at our festival and we look forward to connecting with you!
