How To: Cook Mexican Food

November 23 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

$5
Mexican food is a widely loved cuisine, and it goes beyond Old El Paso spice packets! In this live, virtual class, you’ll learn the tips and tricks to creating authentic Mexican food at home.  We’re partnering with NAIT’s Certified Research Chef, Maynard Kolskog, to teach you how to make a variety of Mexican dishes. Chef Maynard will show you what to look for when selecting ingredients, how to prepare each dish, and and some tips and tricks to help boost your culinary abilities. After this class, you’ll be able to host a fiesta to show off your newly acquired skills!

This class will be hosted on Zoom for current NAIT students only. Participants are required to provide their own supplies, and will be reimbursed $25 to help cover the cost of ingredients. We will send out a grocery list to all event participants one week before the event so that you can plan accordingly. Please note that you must attend and participate in the entire event in order to get reimbursed.

Have a question? Below are some common inquiries.

What supplies do I need?

You will need:

  • A computer or mobile device to follow along on Zoom
  • Basic kitchen supplies, such as a cutting board, knives, etc
  • Ingredients for the meal (a grocery list will be sent out closer to the event date)

I don’t live in Edmonton, can I still participate?

Yes you can! Just grab your groceries and hop on Zoom for the event.

I have allergies. Can I participate?

We tried our best to select a meal that will work with substitutions. If you have allergies, we’d recommend buying the products that you know are easily substituted and that you’re comfortable working with. If you are uncertain, you can reach out to our events team naitsaevents@nait.ca for any allergy-related questions.
