Mental Health First Aid Training

This course provides the skills and knowledge to help people better manage potential or developing mental health problems in themselves, family, a friend or a colleague. You will learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health problems, provide initial help and guide a person toward appropriate professional help. With these skills you can preserve life where a person may be a danger to themselves or others, provide comfort to a person experiencing a mental health problem and promote recovery of good mental health.
Everyone benefits, the more people know the signs and symptoms of common mental health problems, interventions in crisis situations and ways to access help.
This class will run in two consecutive days, Saturday, November 17 & Sunday, November 18. The class is from 8:00am – 4:30pm each day. Please arrive a few minutes early. You must attend both days to receive a Certificate from Mental Health Commission of Canada.
This course is FREE for students who register through NAITSA. A $20.00 seat reservation deposit is required. Deposit will be returned at the end of the course to all participants that complete the full two day course, and if the student withdraws from the course up to 72 hours before course start time.
NOTE: Participants will be required to show their NAIT Student ID in order to attend classes.
