DANIELLE LIBUNAO
VP Academic
Many of us came to NAIT with something in mind, working toward something that matters to you, whether it is a program you wanted to take, a career you hope to build or a goal you are ready to reach. Whether you are starting that journey, continuing your studies or ready to graduate in a semester or two, I hope this year brings new opportunities, meaningful connections, and moments that remind you why you chose NAIT.
I’m grateful to have another year serving as your VP Academic. Academics are at the heart of why many of you are here. You deserve a quality education that reflects the time, effort and investment you put into your studies. In this role, I strive to help you better understand academic processes, feel heard when concerns come up, and bring your concerns forward in the spaces where decisions are made.
I’ve been at NAIT since 2021, and through my time, I have seen many things evolve across academics and student life. Through those changes, one thing that has always stood out to me is the consistency of NAITSA’s services and the support it provides to students.
As students, we’re often busy studying, completing assignments, and keeping up with deadlines. That’s why it is important to know what supports are available to you. If I could give one piece of advice, it would be to visit the NAITSA office. Whether you have a quick question, need help finding a solution, or are unsure who to talk to, NAITSA is a good place to start. We may be able to help directly, and if not, we can connect you with someone who can.
I also work closely with NAITSA’s Student Academic Rights Advisor (SARA), which gives me a better understanding of what students are experiencing across different programs. It gives me a unique pulse of where students are at and where more advocacy may be needed. If
you ever feel lost, are unsure about an academic process, or feel you were graded unfairly, please reach out. We can talk through what happened and help you understand what options may be available to you.
Your feedback helps guide the work we do, and it truly makes a difference. Whether it is a quick question, a small concern, or a larger issue, please keep sharing your experiences with us. It helps us better understand what students are experiencing, stay connected to your needs, and continue showing up for you in ways that matter 🙂
With this being my last year before completing my degree, I’m grateful to spend it connecting with students and helping where I can. As always, I’m happy to hear from you. You can reach me through Teams or at savpacademic@nait.ca, and if you ever see me around campus or in the NAITSA office, please feel free to say hi. I hope your months ahead are positive and full of opportunities!
