Multilingual Reader’s Project – ABC Head Start Society

Dec 8, 2024 | Off-Campus, Volunteer

ABC Head Start Society has developed the Multilingual Readers project to equip the classrooms across the agency with language libraries where children can experience multilingualism and see their heritage represented. Using a digital pen that associates audio to stickers, the children can follow texts on storybooks, flashcards, or any other written material.

Volunteers are needed for:

1) recording audio to increase the Multilingual Readers library, if the volunteers’ native language is Amharic, Oromo, Punjabi or Somali. ** This volunteer work can easily be done from home.

2) organizing the audio files into the Multilingual Readers library and getting the kits ready to use in ABC Head Start classrooms. ** In-person volunteering.

Note: For in-person volunteer, minimum age accepted is 16 years old and a security check will be conducted if applicable (charges covered by ABC Head Start Society).

Download the volunteer application form, and email it to volunteer@abcheadstart.org. For more information, visit their website here.
