The sky is the limit when you share astronomical information!

Share your passion for astronomy and showcase the skies above as an Assistant Observatory Attendant. Our knowledgeable Observatory Attendants supervise the set-up and use of telescopes during public observing sessions and share relevant information to lead our guests on an astronomical adventure.

Knowledge of astronomy and the constellations is required, as well as prior telescope experience and strong communication skills. All applicants must be 15 years of age or older with grade 9 science. Volunteer staff are requested to commit to one, 3-5 hour shift per week over a period of three months, or the equivalent of 40 hours. Operation and staffing of this outdoor facility is weather-dependent.

Shifts:
• Evening Shifts (Fri or Sat): 6:45 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
• Daytime Shifts (Sat or Sun): 12:45 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

TELUS World of Science – Edmonton (TWOSE) is located in amiskwacîwâskahikan in Treaty Six Territory and the Métis Nation of Alberta Region 4. We are the destination to engage Albertans’ hearts and minds in science, with a mission to ignite curiosity, inspire discovery, celebrate science, and change lives.

Our guests are diverse and so are we. TWOSE is deliberate in building a culture that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. Science is for everyone, and we need team members with diverse perspectives, identities, abilities, and expressions. As such we encourage Black, Indigenous, and racialized peoples, persons living with disability and neurodiversity, women, sexual and gender minorities, and members of all minority groups to apply.
