Hello Ooks,

I’m Adebayo Otekunrin, a Bachelor of Technology student in General Management, and I’m running for NAITSA Senate this year.

Some of you might know me from the Centre for Community and Belonging, where I work as a Belonging Ambassador. I spend much of my time talking with students who are still finding their place here, whether they’re new to Edmonton, new to Canada, or haven’t found their people yet. I’ve been there too, and I’ve seen how much a small conversation can change someone’s semester.

What does the Senate do? It approves NAITSA’s budget, passes bylaws, and keeps the Executive Council accountable. That matters, because the fees we pay every semester should go toward things students actually use. Working with students every day has taught me to listen first and ask the right questions, and that’s exactly what the Senate needs when it reviews how our money is spent.

If elected, I’ll review every bylaw carefully, make sure the annual budget reflects student priorities, and hold the Executive Council accountable for its decisions.
